Area Sampling Framework (ASF) Survey

The Area Sampling Framework (ASF) Survey is an area-based survey conducted by direct observation of a sample of segments and aims to estimate the area by extrapolating the sample to the population in a relatively short period (rapid estimate). the purpose of the ASF Survey is to calculate the estimated harvest area for rice and secondary crop commodities (Maize). The estimated harvest areas with the productivity of these commodities will become the production figures for rice and corn commodities. Data collection through ASF is done by using segment areas as calculation samples. Segment observations were conducted by field officers on the last seven days of each month. This is a small contribution from fellow field officers. The ASF approach technique is expected to be useful for food crop statistics, especially in supporting national food security program planning.
